Kansas City, Mo. (September 19, 2013) – Andrews McMeel Universal (AMU) brands GoComics and Andrews McMeel Publishing return to New York Comic Con 2013 to share entertaining and thought-provoking comic strips, book collections, creator interactions, giveaways and portfolio review sessions with the New York Comic Con (NYCC) guests.

The brands will converge at New York Comic Con Booth #2219 displaying:

Comics for Kids, including Desmond Pucket Makes Monster Magic by Mark Tatulli (Lio and Heart of the City cartoonist) and Big Nate: I Can’t Take It! by Lincoln Peirce.
  • GoComics’ offerings of the world’s largest collection of syndicated and Web comics. Updated daily, the online catalog and mobile app include iconic comic strips such as Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert, Garfield and FoxTrot to popular comics such as Pearls Before Swine, Get Fuzzy and The Argyle Sweater.

NYCC attendees are encouraged to bring their personal comic portfolios to the GoComics/Andrews McMeel Publishing booth at designated times, where editor Lucas Wetzel will provide feedback and explain the submission process for both GoComics and syndication consideration.

Social media will play a major role in the AMU teams’ #NYCC outreach. GoComics, part of Universal Uclick, will use its Twitter presence (@GoComics) to tweet from the convention floor, sharing the experience with the 60,000 followers worldwide that may not be able to attend. NYCC guests and @GoComics followers can keep track of the conversation using the hashtag #GoComics. The on-site team will also share photos via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram.  Andrews McMeel Publishing (@AndrewsMcMeel) will alert NYCC attendees to giveaways/events via social media using the hashtag #AMPNYCC.

Comic Con attendees who visit the booth and show a social media message sharing information about Andrews McMeel Publishing’s releases or the #GoComics hashtag will receive a free three-month GoComics PRO account, which allows users to get an unlimited number of comics emailed to them daily and an ad-free experience on the new GoComics mobile/tablet app.
